Network was started by Brooklyn chiropractor Dr Donald Epstein when he began to notice that specific spinal subluxation patterns would clear more easily with specific types of adjustive force applications. He also noticed that the sequence of adjustments affected the outcome. His patients began to respond by spontaneously moving their bodies in undulating and rhythmic "waves" which often "cleared out" all the subluxations from a spine.

Dr Epstein (left) graduated from New York Chiropractic College in 1977 and began practicing in Brooklyn New York. Using such diverse chiropractic techniques such as Upper Cervical, Logan Basic, Gonstead, Pettibon, Grostic and Toftness he began to wonder how they all could fit together in a harmonious and coherent fashion. He 'networked' all of these approaches together. |

By using gentle and specific adjustments given in a consistent sequence Dr Epstein found that the body would learn to release more complex tension and subluxation patterns, unwinding deeper tensions from the spine. Two wave-like movements would develop within the spine, a Respiratory and Somato-psychic wave. Sometimes as the spine unwound the person would experience heightened emotions from sadness and grief to joy and euphoria. |

In order to explain this unique phenomenon Dr Epstein had to include theories not only from, chiropractic and healing, but also from quantum physics, chaos, neuro-endocrinology, psycho-neuro-immunology and many other diverse fields. |
Dr Epstein's results attracted the attention of other Chiropractors, and soon he was teaching his approach to chiropractors throughout the US. He refined the subluxation patterns (phases) and observed that spinal and neural integrity progresses through distinct stages (levels of care). To help people with the healing process he has developed Somato-Respiratory Integration (body-breath) which is described in his book "The Twelve Stages of Healing". |

Today Network is practiced by over 350 chiropractors in 45 states and 16 countries worldwide, and it is growing all the time. Dr Epstein is president of the Association for Network Care. and is the major force in developing and refining Network even further. |
